World Cup Friendlies played over the past week

world-cup-friendliesThree friendlies were played during the past week with World Cup teams Switzerland, Ecuador, Iran and Germany all in action in preparation for the 2014 World Cup which begins next month in Brazil.

Netherlands 1 – 1 Ecuador

The Netherlands and Ecuador played out a one-all draw in a World Cup friendly on May 18th in Amsterdam.

Jefferson Montero opened the scoring for Ecuador after 9 minutes before
Manchester United’s Robin Van Persie scored for the Dutch side at the 37 minute mark.

Iran 0 – 0 Belarus

Iran played the first of three friendlies in Austria on May 18th when they were held to a scoreless draw against Belarus.

Played on May 18th at Franz-Fekete-Stadion (Kapfenberg).

Germany 0 – 0 Poland

An experimental German side fought out a nil-all draw with Poland on May 14th with 12 players making their debut for Germany at Imtech Arena in Hamburg.

The Germans will travel to a training camp in Italy on Wednesday before a final 23-man squad will be announced by 2nd June.
