Uruguay have defeated South Korea 2-1 to be the first team through to the World Cup quarter-finals after goals in each half to Luiz Suarez sealed the victory for Uruguay.
An early strike from Suarez was cancelled out by South Korea’s Lee Chung-Yong on 68 minutes before Suarez scored a wonderful goal in the ten minutes from time and it was enough to send Uruguay through to the quarter finals for the first time in four decades.
The match started with early chances to both sides and Luis Suarez put Uruguay in front after just 8 minutes had been played.
After half time South Korea were on the offensive and were ultimately rewarded after some untidy work from Uruguayan keeper Nestor Muslera allowed Lee Chung-Yong an easy header to level the scores at one-all.
With only ten minutes left in the game Luiz Suarez capialised on some shoddy defensive work by the Koreans from a corner when he hit the back of the net to give Uruguay a 2-1 lead.
South Korea almost equalised again through Lee Dong-Gook but he was unable to take his chance and Uruguay held on to fight another day.
