A second half Dennis Rommedahl goal enabled Denmark to beat Cameroon 2-1 in their second round Group E match of the 2010 World Cup at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday.
Samuel Eto´o scored an early goal for Cameroon after just ten minutes before Nicklas Bendtner equalised for the Danes before half-time.
Cameroon are now out of the World Cup race after failing to get a point in their first two games while Denmark is level with Japan who they will play in their final group match.
Denmark must beat Japan to go through as the Japanese have better goal difference than the Danes.
In a must win game for both teams it was the Indomitable Lions who grabbed the first goal when Christian Poulsen from Denmark allowed his pass to be intercepted by Cameroon’s Pierre Webo who provided the framework for Eto’o to slot an easy goal past Thomas Sorensen.
Amana let another one rip shortly after for Cameroon and it just missed, before the Danes were just wide with a Jesper Gronkjaer shot.
The game was being played at a solid pace and on 33 minutes Denmark had their equaliser when Rommedahl’s brilliant effort down the right resulted in Nicklas Bendtner being on the end of his low cross into the middle for a well worked goal.
An exciting first-half seen a number of close shaves for both teams in the final few minutes before teams went to the break at one goal apiece.

The game continued to provide goal mouth action for both sides and was very entertaining to watch.
Denmark hit the lead against the run of play when Bendtner returned the favour for Rommedahl who slotted his shot into the bottom corner and the Danes were in front.
Cameroon kept pressing for goal and had a few chances to equalise but were unable to finish the job and they became the first team to be eliminated from the World Cup as Denmark finished with a 2-1 win.
