Ivory Coast vs Portugal Preview

Ivory Coast
The Ivory Coast qualified for South Africa without tasting defeat and they gained their place in the 2010 World Cup in easy fashion over teams such as Mozambique, Madagascar, Botswana and Malawi.

Didier Drogba, Aureliano Torres and Kolo Toure all scored goals in recent matches.

Portugal struggled to qualify for this tournament and it was only after a play-off win over Bosnia where Bruno Alves and Raul Meireles scored in each 1-0 leg that assured a trip to South Africa.

Ivory Coast vs Portugal Match Prediction

This match is an exciting prospect on paper and could realistically go either way, which makes the Ivory Coast reasonable value at their current odds. The Africans are solid down back and their midfield can cut it with Portugal but if Drogba does not play as expected then they lack a focal presence up forward.

The Portuguese have an ageing team but has the services of the brilliant Ronaldo who has not fired for his country like he does for his club.

Could end up being a draw or a win for either side given the talent on disposal and what players take the pitch. Both sides are capable of finding the net and goals could be on the agenda.
