South Korea cannot be underestimated at the World Cup as they are a very competitive unit who play well together as a team.
They finished fourth in the 2002 World Cup as hosts but have yet to reach those lofty heights in subsequent tournaments, although they made the knockout stages four years ago in South Africa before losing to Uruguay who went on to finish fourth.
South Korea find themselves pitted against Algeria, Belgium and Russia in Group H and while they would be expected to match it with the Algerians, the chances of beating the two European teams might prove beyond them in South America.
Belgium is a hot favourite to win this group and if South Korea is to get through, it will have to be at the expense of Russia and Algeria, assuming Belgium finishes on top.
The South Koreans are a well drilled football team who always provide tough opposition for their rivals and they have to be respected during the group stages.
Early 2014 World Cup odds have South Korea $301 to win the tournament and $9.00 to win Group H.

South Korea is capable of challenging for a top two spot in Group H but we think Belgium and Russia may have their measure and the best they can hope for is finishing in third place ahead of Algeria.
Betting options for South Korea include the $1.36 about them to be eliminated at the group stage, but more value could be found by taking the $1.90 about them scoring one win in Group H.
If you fancy the chances of South Korea beating both Russia and Algeria and making it through to the second round then consider the $2.75 about qualifying for the Round of 16 stage.

World Cup players to watch for South Korea
Central midfielder Ki Sung Yueng appears set for a big World Cup in Brazil and his sublime passing skils from the back can open up opposition defences.
Forward Son Heung-min has proven himself in the Bundesliga and now looks ready to make a name for himself on the world stage for his country.
Striker Park Chu-young is a clever player with very good technical skills who will be champing at the bit to put in a performance to remember in Brazil.
