New Zealand beat France 8-7 to win 2011 Rugby World Cup

New Zealand broke a 24 year World Cup drought when they defeated France 8-7 in a thrilling 2011 World Cup FInal clash at Eden Park on Sunday night.

The All Blacks took the early lead when prop Tony Woodcock scored a try in the 15th-minute after France got away to a good start in the match.

Donald scored a penalty goal early in the second half for New Zealand (44m) but France fought back with a quick try to captain Thierry Dusautoir and a François Trinh-Duc conversion had the French back in the match.

New Zealand withstood all that France threw at them in the final minutes of the match before the All Black defence stood firm and they ran the clock down to score a well deserved World Cup victory.
