The 2010 World Cup Final is finally upon us and the Netherlands and Spain will face off against other for the ultimate honour in world football at 4:30am AEST Melbourne time on Monday 12th July at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
These two teams have never met in major International competition before and as far as the World Cup goes, the Dutch have finished runner-up twice in 1974 and 1978 while Spain’s best effort was fourth in 1950.
Amazingly, this will be the first World Cup Final being contested without either Brazil, Italy, Germany/West Germany or Argentina.
Neither the Netherlands or Spain have won the trophy as yet, but that will change come Monday as one team will be crowned champions of the world for the first time in their history..

Netherlands vs Spain match prediction
A quality match seems assured here between two in-form sides who both have classy attacking options with solid defensive formations.
If the Dutch allow Spain to dictate terms then Spain will do to them what they done to Germany and the Netherlands will have little impact just as the Germans did.
The Netherlands will have to curtail the Spanish trio of Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and David Villa if they want to win this match and if Torres starts and finds some form then the equation gets even tougher for the Dutch.
Spain will try and control the game as they did against Germany and if they can keep the ball off the likes of Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Dirk Kuyt and Robin van Persie as much as possible then the Spaniards will go a long way towards winning this match.
Two well deserved teams fight it out for the World Cup Final and only one will achieve glory.
The Dutch are probably the value here but we have been most impressed with Spain and believe they will be crowned 2010 world champions.
