Argentina continued their solid World Cup form with a 3-1 win over Mexico in their Round of 16 knockout final at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg on Monday.
First-half Goals to Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain put Argentina in the box seat at the break before Tevez added another in the second half to ensure Argentina would go through to the quarter finals.
Javier Hernandez scored a late consolation goal for Mexico and their effort was much better than the final score showed.
Mexico had plenty of chances during the game but were unable to convert as well as their opponents.
The first goal by Carlos Tevez was clearly offside and calls for video referees have again come to the surface, especially after the referee error in the England and Germany game when again the referee disallowed a certain goal by England’s Frank Lampard after it had crossed the goal line and was adjudged to have not been a goal.
