Group A – Uruguay and Mexico qualify

Uruguay and Mexico have finished first and second in Group A and have qualified for the Round of 16 at the expense of South Africa and France.

A 43 minute goal to Luiz Suarez was enough for Uruguay to score a well earned win over Mexico and claim top position of Group A with 7 points.

In the second game South Africa managed a 2-1 win over France thanks to two first-half goals to Bongani Khumalo and Katlego Mphela while France pulled won back after half-time when Florent Malouda found the net.

Yoann Gourcuff was sent off for France after just 26 minutes and the French had to play with 10 men for the rest of the match.
