2010 World Cup Summary after Group stage first round

The 2010 World Cup first round of Group matches has just completed and the contenders are showing their wares while the pretenders have nowhere to hide.

World Cup Info has a complete summary of all matches played in the first round of group games including our own WCI Rating for each team to provide a guide as to how each team compares to one another at this stage of the competition.

The standout teams for us have been Germany, Chile, Italy, Argentina, with Paraguay, Brazil, Spain, South Korea and Nigeria next in line.

Poorest performed teams have been Greece and Cameroon, and unfortunately Australia, but in the Socceroos defence they were up against a quality outfit that may just decimate some other teams before this World Cup is out.

Below is the results for all first round group matches with our WCI Rating included.

Our WCI Rating is a simple figure based on how a team performs in each half against their opposition. Each team gets points up to five for each half and then both figures are added together for a game rating.

E.g. (1st half: 3.0 – 2nd half: 2.5) Total 5.5

Strength of opponent is factored into the equation and the WCI Rating is just an opinion based figure as to how we saw the game. Feel free to share your opinion.
