Australia vs Denmark Preview – Friendly Tuesday 1st June

All Australian eyes will be on the Socceroos at 10pm AEST tonight Tuesday 1st June at Ruimsig Stadium in Johannesburg as Australia tackles Denmark in a friendly.

Kicking off at 10.00pm AEST (2pm local) and televised live via FOX Sports 2, the Australians will be looking to improve on their recent 2-1 victory over New Zealand at the MCG last week.

Fringe players in the Socceroos squad will have one final chance to impress coach Pim Verbeek with 23 man squads for the World Cup to be finalised upon completion of this game.

Harry Kewell is still struggling with a groin problem and is unlikely to play, while Josh Kennedy, Brett Emerton and keeper Mark Schwarzer may get a guernsey on the night.

Dario Vidosic who scored a cracker against the All Whites will be doing all he can to make the final squad along with players such as Brett Holman and Carl Valeri who will be both trying to impress Verbeek.

Denmark has plenty of talent at its disposal and keeper Thomas Sorenson should play, along with Daniel Agger and Jesper Groenkjaer.

Brett Emerton scored Australia’s only goal against Denmark in their only meeting back in 2007  when the Danes won 3-1 in London.

Both sides will be aiming to produce a solid display with the 2010 World Cup looming very shortly in South Africa.
