The Socceroos 31 man World Cup squad was announced today in Sydney by Australian coach Pim Verbeek, with youngster Tommy Oar being named for the Aussies.
The only A-League players named in the squad were Eugene Galekovic and Jason Culina, while both James Holland and Nicky Carle have been included in the team that will be team that will pruned down to 23 players by June 1st.
The upcoming friendly against New Zealand on May 24th at the MCG will go a long way towards deciding those players who will make the final team to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.

A training camp will be held from from May 19 up until the Socceroos’ friendly against New Zealand and the team will then head to South Africa to play a couple of friendlys against Denmark (June 1) and USA (June 5).
